df011266_Rainier-aerial-photo.jpg
An aerial photo looking southwest from above the Kent Valley industrial area in south King County, south of Seattle, to a looming snow-capped Mount Rainier in the far distance. In the event of a volcanic eruption, this low-lying area would be at risk of massive flooding and mudflows triggered by rapidly melting glaciers. Topping out at just over 14,000 feet, Rainier last erupted roughly 350 years ago.
