More than 200,000 cubic yards of fill were brought to the Park site from a downtown construction project to raise the ground level far above the existing train tracks that bisected it. These sculptural concrete slabs topped with the aspens of the Grove section of the Park support the embankment that is the wall of the train track right-of-way (just below the edge of the frame). Seen in silhouette on the embankment's wall are people passing along the glass wall of Teresita Fernåndez's, "Seattle Cloud Cover" that forms the wall of the sky bridge over the tracks and connects the two portions of the Park -- city side and water side. Nowhere is the intended meeting of plants, sky, and art more obvious than in this late afternoon revelation. SAM's Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle, WA.
