There are now more than 70 companies producing composite decking materials, usually made from recycled plastic, wood scraps, and resins, although Trex was the first company to do so. Composites come in a range of colors, textures, dimensions, styles, and simulated wood grains that can be matched together, cut to any size, and cut, joined, and scribed like wood as in this detail of a colored edge trim marking the change in elevation between two levels of the deck.
